Amanda Wang, J.D.


Ms. Amanda Wang was awarded an engineering degree from the nation’s top Bioengineering program at UC San Diego’s Jacobs School of Engineering and a Juris Doctor from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law, where she graduated as a distinguished Intellectual Property Law Fellow. She was additionally awarded a certificate in Global Legal Studies for her honors studies in China and France and selected as a judicial extern under the Hon. Roger T. Benitez at the United States District Court, Southern District of California. While in law school she focused on Trademark, Patent, and Copyright law and gained experience at the Small Business Law Center (now the Patent Clinic for Californians), The Licensing Group, Ltd. in Los Angeles, CA as well as Consor Intellectual Asset Management in La Jolla, CA. Before attending law school, she worked under Dr. Phyllis Linton at the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center (“SKCC”) genotyping, phenotyping, and selectively breeding mice for desired traits. After the SKCC, she went into algae biofuel development and spent most of her time implementing high throughput methods to isolate, catalog, and characterize thousands of strains of algae.

Dr. John S. Abrams, Ph.D

Scientific Advisor

John S. Abrams, PhD. has over 40 years of experience in biotech, including several decades of senior executive science leadership (with over 20 years at DNAX Research Institute / Schering-Plough). He received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from UC Berkeley and awarded a Ph.D in Biochemistry from McGill University. He has authored over 100 scientific publications and patents and is experienced with early research program design and implementation as well as preclinical and clinical development. More recently, he served as the 2019 Scientific Director of the Emerald Conference where he also presented on some of the science behind chemotyping.
